Samsung Unpacked liveblog: Galaxy Note II, Ativ S Windows Phone, Ativ Tab Windows RT tablet, Ativ Smart PC Windows 8 convertible tablets, Galaxy Camera and more!

Samsung’s Unpacked event will be held at IFA in Berlin tonight, and the rumour mill is in full swing. We already know that the successor to the Galaxy Note will be shown off, and sources seem to suggest that an Android based camera and convertible Windows 8 tablet will also appear. Needless to say it’ll be a busy night, and we’ll have all the news on this page as it happens, so join us on a fantastic journey!

All times given are BST. Manual refreshes are required for the latest updates.
Watch along live on Samsung’s Facebook page.

16:00 Let’s do this.

16:20 Getting myself prepared with some Tom Hangs.

16:23 Spoiler alert! PocketNow have published a picture of what is supposedly the Note 2. It definitely looks like the ugly duckling child of a Note and S III, and it supposedly sports a 5.5″ 720p display, 1.6GHz quad core processor (most likely of the Exynos kind) and Jelly Bean. And TouchWiz.

16:29 Interestingly this phablet is said to have a 5.5″ 1280 x 720 display as opposed to the 1280 x 800 on the 5.3″ Note. Maybe they are dropping the pixel density to get rid of Pentile.

16:31 A man can dream of a Pentile-free world!

16:32 Moar leaks! The Verge has a pic of the Ativ S, a 4.8″ Windows Phone 8 device. Again it resembles both the Note and S III, and sports a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon, 4.8″ HD Super AMOLED display, an 8 megapixel rear camera and 1.9 megapixel front camera. Will Samsung be the first OEM to announce a WP8 device?

16:54 Tom Warren of The Verge has another leak for y’all. The Ativ Tab is a 10.1″ Windows RT slate. Allegedly just 8.9mm thick, it will sport a dual core Snapdragon S4 clocked at 1.5GHz, a 5 megapixel rear camera and 1.9 megapixel front camera. Still nobody knows what Ativ means.

17:03 I want to give up now. Verge reader Bionix stumbled on to Slashgear’s Galaxy Camera review on YouTube. It’s gone now, but the embargofail is strong in this one.
null

17:10 Ativ is the worst name for a product line ever.

17:22 The leaks seem to have stopped, and everyone’s going inside!

17:30 As soon as I say that, TechnoBuffalo prematurely posted their Galaxy Camera hands-on video.

17:39 Dan Seifert of The Verge has a pair of new leaks. The Ativ Smart PC and Ativ Smart PC Pro have 11.6″ 1080p displays and Transformer-esque keyboard docks. The Smart PC will have an Intel Atom chip and the Pro will carry an i5. And they have S Pens.

17:56 I need a drink.

17:58 Samsung’s choice of music is relaxing but annoying. Please stop this.

18:01 3 minutes to go!

18:04 The embargoes are lifted. All the leaks seem accurate, but the Ativ Smart PC is now the Series 5 Slate and the Pro model is Series 7. The Note II has Jelly Bean and a non-Pentile display. YAY!

18:08 Strange guy is doing card tricks and mime.

18:10 The magical flying stylus kicks things off.

18:11 12 people had to recreate Berlin with the Galaxy Note. I have no idea what this means.

18:13 They have an orchestra.

18:14 And Wim Wenders.

18:15 Wim has a Note 10.1. Also the slates have widgets on top of Metro.

18:16 Wim makes no sense. He’s talking about angels.

18:17 Wim Wenders is the first Galaxy Note Creative Ambassador. It means nothing.

18:20 Now we see the ‘recreation’ of Berlin by Galaxy Note ambassadors. I wish they would just get on with announcing what has already been announced.

18:22 Wand guy introduces JK Shin to unveil new products.

18:24 One year since the Note was revealed, here’s the Galaxy Note II!

18:25 “Adding even more value to your creativity.”

18:25 5.5″ Super AMOLED HD screen. Slightly narrower and taller than the original Note at 1280 x 720. New S Pen with rubber tip is more natural and precise.

18:28 1.6GHz quad core CPU, 2GB Ram, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with TouchWiz. 260 carrier partners in 128 countries. Launching in October.

18:29 3100mAh battery!

18:30 And here’s Jean-Daniel Ayme explaining the changes.

18:31 Full spec sheet for the Note II on Samsung’s press site.

18:33 Both LTE and 3G are supported.

18:34 180g, 9.4mm thick, thinner bezel.

18:35 There is new Air View bloatware. Hover over stuff and other stuff happens.

18:48 Still going over the new S Pen features.

18:53 Jelly Bean coming to valued customers who own Galaxy Note 10.1 and S III.

18:55 Digital curtains fall and JK Shin comes back out.

18:56 Time to reimagine another category. Here’s the Galaxy Camera!

18:57 “The camera is reborn.”

18:58 21x optical zoom and 16MP BSI CMOS sensor. Android 4.1.

19:00 4.8″ HD Super AMOLED Clear LCD display. 3G, 4G and WiFi.

19:01 “We are entering a new era of visual communication.”

19:02 If you guys aren’t following @AndroidToaster you are seriously missing out.

19:03 It will be very interesting to see Nokia 808 PureView vs. Galaxy Camera images.

19:05 Twitter has confirmed that the guy on stage did in fact say Galaxy Camner.

19:11 Use your phone as a remote viewfinder. Pretty neat.

19:12 They are aiming for 8. Here is Ativ stuff.

19:13 Pronounced Ateev. Simple, powerful and beautiful.

19:15 First up we have the Ativ Smart PC! Up to 256GB SSD, Windows 8, Core i5. 9.9mm.

19:28 And the wand guy is back to wrap things up.
