Digixav Podcast 012 – July 10th 2013

Twelve. That’s a mighty large number, and it’s also the number of topics in the show notes for our return from yet another unintentional hiatus. While Henry lies in a field getting fried by the British heatwave, Xavier and Chris take cover in the depths of the night to talk about Apple’s mobile product lines and web ambitions, imminent announcements from Nokia and Motorola, new devices from Sony and HTC that are scaring Xavier’s wallet and leaked information about upcoming phablets from the Korean pairing of LG and Samsung. Chris goes on to wax lyrical about rap music while Xavier enthuses about The Last of Us while finding it horribly difficult (yet completely possible) to avoid spoilers. We also answer some user questions from Twitter, thanks to our wonderful listeners and #AskChris, which we’ve chosen to hijack.

Digixav Podcast 011 – June 20th 2013

It’s been a bit of a crazy week, best epitomised by John McAfee going mental. There’s also been a trailer for The Lego Movie, an Xbox 180 and even a new portrait QWERTY phone from NEC. Less excitingly, Samsung, Instagram and HTC all hosted events, while Nokia promised one in early July. As ever, Chris and Xavier digest it all so you don’t have to, and Henry calls in for the final seconds despite our plethora of technical issues.

Digixav Podcast 010 – June 7th 2013

Henry makes a triumphant return to the show after Chris and Xavier break the biggest story of the week, in that you can now subscribe to and rate us in iTunes and all other leading podcatchers! Do that now! Please! We beg you!

There’s also a bit of minor tech news to go through, such as Apple’s new iPod Touch, Googlified editions of all your favourite Android phones, diminuitive and rugged editions of your favourite Samsung Galaxy S4, white editions of your favourite LG Nexus 4 and how the Nokia EOS leaks are probably deliberate ones from Nokia. There’s also the small matter of Computex craziness from Asus, Acer, Dell and Sony to go through, before a regular culture section dissolves into hardcore critiquing of Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby.

Digixav Podcast 009 – May 28th 2013

Digixav Podcast 009

What would a Digixav Podcast be without a serious discussion about songs that deal with adultery in all its various forms and hipster racing cars? Not episode 9, that’s for sure. This time Xavier and Chris talk about the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and various facets of Samsung and HTC before delving into the more underground side of tech with chat about Jolla, the gold PorscheBerry and a game that comes with a free supercar as a pre-order bonus. Chris also keeps shouting “GEORGIANA STARLINGTON” and something about cream cheese bagels, while Xavier begins to formulate some Xbox and Glass app ideas for the folks at Bang With Friends.

Digixav Podcast 008 – May 18th/19th 2013

In case reading isn’t your thing, we have an exciting competition in this show. Listen to at least the first few minutes of the show for all the details.

On Saturday, we began to do the unthinkable – record an eighth podcast. Xavier was tired from a day at Lord’s marching and watching cricket and generally being awake, while Henry and Chris were busy getting distracted by 4chan’s infamous /b. After numerous Audacity-based failures, things began to take shape on the fourth attempt, but an unfortunate spontaneous barbecue-related event sprung up and we had to abandon things. Shedding Henry who opted to watch the new Gatsby film rather than resume, an even more tired Xavier and an even more distracted Chris picked up the microphone, kept calm and carried on. What they said about NokiaGoogle and possibly even some other thing probably makes no sense and will lull you into an endless doze, but we’re presenting it to you nevertheless.

Two days late.

Because #YOLO.

Did I mention there’s a competition?

Digixav Podcast 007 – May 1st 2013

Scoble in the shower

We’re back, baby! Xavier, Chris and a tardy Henry reconvened to talk through all the big news of the past two and a half weeks, from Xboxes and smartwatches to wearable computers and horrible Samsung songs (or Samsongs if you want to get all punny about it). We even divert ourselves onto the now-regular culture section, Google I/O rumours, Twitter #music and, of course, Robert Scoble having a shower.

Digixav Podcast 006 – April 13th 2013

xraycoat

If one show this week wasn’t enough for you, Henry was dragged in by Chris and Xavier for another episode of the Digixav Podcast, this time filled with questions from listeners, Samsung’s gigantic phablets, the age-old battle of Ryan Seacrest vs. Joel McHale and why Helvetica is always better than Arial. Stay tuned for more cultural recommendations from Chris and a jacket with 22 pockets for all your technological needs – even an iPad. We also talk even more about that Facebook Phone, the HTC First, the Asus FonePad, O2, EE, Microsoft Office for iOS and Android and Twitter Music, along with a bunch more mysterious unplanned topics!

Warning! This show contains immaturity and strong language. And two penis jokes.

Digixav Podcast 005 – April 9th 2013

Sergey Brin Pink Batman Tesla

Following on from our triumphant trip to The Gadget Show Live last week, Xavier and Chris leave Henry in the dark ages for the fifth episode of our podcast. Sticking mostly to topic for the first time ever, we talk about everything from Facebook’s attempt to take control of Android with Home and the HTC First, Nokia’s Verizon-bound Lumia 928, our experiences in the review period of the Microsoft Surface RT, the complimentary content that comes with Sony’s new $699 4K media player and, the biggest news of the year, Sergey Brin’s bright pink Batman Tesla. We also branch out into culture talk with our favourite new media and Chris gets philosophical…somewhere.

Digixav Podcast 004…is coming next week!

It’s been a pretty quiet week (he says, obviously jinxing everything) and, due to various other commitments and not being able to find the time to convene and record, the Digixav Podcast team will be taking a week’s break. Don’t worry though, as we’ll be back with a vengeance (and lots of energy, ideally) next week with episode 004! In the meantime, you should make sure you’ve caught up with episodes 001 to 003 and continue to send in your questions, comments and feedback by email (to podcast@digixav.com) or on Twitter (@Digixav) and we promise that we will get around to answering some during the next episode.

Until then, goodbye!

Digixav Podcast 003 – March 15th 2013: Samsung Galaxy S4 special edition!

Samsung Galaxy S 4 HTC One

After the literal madness that was Samsung’s press event to unveil it, Rowan, Henry and I sat down and began to talk about the new Galaxy S 4 that should be winging its way to British shores in April. As things progressed, we didn’t really talk about anything else, so prepare for a nightmare thrillride through everything that Samsung had to show us, from lack of S Pebble to cornucopia of processing cores and how HTC may have emerged the biggest winners of Samsung’s hypocritical evening.
